Thessalonica is where King Philip of the Macedonians started his campain with his son, Alexander. Look at what they had done, maybe its time for Macedonia to become great once again?
To the north are mountains and the city of Bylazora, which is under Macedon control. To the west is the Greek shore, maybe if those pesky Romans attack you will be forced to allie with the those 'greeks' to the south? To the east is Thrace, a nation that so boldly call themselves 'Greeks'. What an insult! But, in this time of war, allies are usful. The east is guarded by mountains and forests, this making them somewhat usful in defence as well. To the south are the 'original' Greeks, who have the gaul to say they are great, what did they do what we haven't?!
